In an effort to help prepare our neighborhood for an emergency, the Emergency Preparedness Committee is planning to hold an activity to test our emergency rapid assessment of the neighborhood status on February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM. We invite all to participate. We will use a colored square system. We ask that you place the appropriate marker in a front-facing window or on the exterior of your door. Some may still have colored ribbons/tape that can be used.
For YELLOW, RED, and BLACK indicators, display all that apply.
At approximately 10:15 AM, the Emergency Preparedness Committee will then canvas the neighborhood to make a preliminary assessment of the colors posted at each house and report back to the Emergency Command Post via GMRS radio. This allows us to test our communication system. With this information, we can coordinate our efforts and identify where help is needed.
Thank you for your participation. This helps us to better coordinate our efforts in case of an emergency event.
Additional/Repeat Information
To help our neighborhood prepare for an emergency, the Emergency Preparedness Committee is hosting a Rapid Assessment Exercise this coming Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
We invite everyone to participate! We will be using a colored square marker system to quickly check the status of every home. Please place your marker in a front-facing window or on your front door during the event. (If you still have colored ribbons or tape from previous years, those work perfectly, too!)
Need markers?
We have sets of colored paper available for you. Please reach out to the Harrises or the Egelunds to pick up your set.
The Point
• Water is necessary for life and survival.
• You are 60 to 70 percent water.
• It’s necessary for all bodily functions.
• If you are thirsty, you're already dehydrated.
• You can only last three to four days without it.
Having a storage of clean drinking water and knowing how to safely treat more is vital to "be ready" for survival.
